28 Weeks With Baby #2

Well, hello third trimester! You showed up quite quickly this time around! I can't believe we're already just 12 weeks (or so) away from meeting this little guy. Last week we spent the week at the beach for our last vacation as a family of three, which was pretty much the perfect thing for a 7 month pregnant woman. I basically laid on a lounge chair under an umbrella reading magazines on the beach while the husband played with Grayson in the waves and building sand castles. Peeerfection.

OK, so now it's time for an update! Let me tell you, looking back on my updates from last time is certainly a great way to appreciate how awesome this pregnancy is going. Cannot complain one bit, I must say.

Due Date
October 17, 2015

This Week Baby A...
is the size of a Chinese cabbage. He's almost 2 1/2 pounds and around 16 inches...which explains how he's causing so much ruckus in my tummy these days. He's also blinking, coughing, and sucking. Like a real human baby!

Symptoms
Still feeling really, really good! I'm more tired than usual, and definitely much lazier than I like to be...but other than that I'm not having any of the usual symptoms. Sometimes I just feel incredibly full - not like, full of food, but I guess just full of baby. I have a hard time bending to pick things up, and it's getting harder to carry Grayson around, which makes me sad. But most of the time I don't even feel all that pregnant, aside from the insane amounts of movement going on inside of my belly ;)

Weight Gain
At my doctor's appointment this morning I was at 18 pounds gained. Last time I had gained 20 at this point, so I'm gaining a little slower, but I feel like I look a lot larger this time around. Maybe it's settling in different places this time? No idea. But whatever, gaining less weight makes me happy.

Gender
Mama's Boy #2

Food Cravings/Aversions
Pretty much nothing specific. Sweets. Cereal. Chocolate. As far as actual food goes, every day is different, and I rarely can think of anything that I just really want.

Movements
This kid is non-stop! He's already moving so much that my stomach looks like there's an alien moving around in there. He doesn't really have any specific times that he moves a lot, it's pretty sporadic throughout the day. He is super low though, so it feels like he's either head butting or river dancing on my bladder most of the time. My doctor informed me today that every baby rides a little lower than your first, and he is most definitely low, but nothing abnormal. But looking at my comparison pics above you can definitely tell how much lower he is than G was!

Sleep
Still good! My body isn't sore at all so far, unless I'm super active that day, so most nights I'm sleeping really good as long as I've got a pillow to put between my knees. That's pretty much the only thing I need for a comfortable night it seems.

Daddy's Thoughts
We've been having a lot of good chats about how excited we are lately and how fun it will be to have another sweet little baby in the house. We're both a little apprehensive to see how things will be once he arrives - just if we will feel the same as we did with Grayson right away, how G will react, and whatnot. I'm quite sure we'll both fall head over heels in love as soon as we lay eyes on him, so I'm not too concerned :) And I know Grayson will be an amazing big brother, which makes my heart want to burst just thinking about it.

Fun Moments
Well, obviously the beach was amazing. We also did maternity photos on the beach, and I can't WAIT to see those. Grayson looked freaking adorable in the little outfit I had him in, and A looked handsome as always. I'm hoping I didn't look too swollen or tired, but if I did I guess that captures pregnancy in it's truest form, right?

Looking Forward To...
My baby "sprinkle", which is just about three weeks away. I've also got several things I want to order from Etsy, like his going home outfit and G's outfit for that day, his name banner to go over his bed (once we choose the name!), a mobile for his crib, and so on....and shopping makes me happy, so that's all fun for me. Also looking forward to our hospital tour in a few weeks - I don't know much about the hospital I'll be delivering at, I would deliver pretty much anywhere in order to do so with the OBGYN I'm using this time. But I'm still curious! It looks nice from the outside, so that has to count for something, right? My to-do list is growing by the minute, and I know three months will pass in a flash, but really I'm looking forward to every minute of it - especially meeting this sweet boy once he arrives!

26 Weeks with Baby #2

Miracle of all miracles, I have managed to post my 26 week update while I am actually still 26 weeks. I mean, if you want to be technical about it, it is technically after midnight, so I guess I'm officially 27 weeks right now....but I'm gonna say since I haven't gone to bed yet it can still count as Friday night rather than Saturday morning, yeah? Ok, glad we cleared that up.

The past couple of weeks have been pretty uneventful, at least when it comes to baby. We've been gearing up for vacation, and we are super duper excited to get that started ASAP. We're staying in Texas, but we will be on the beach, so that will be a pretty wonderful week I do believe.

Alright, on to the update!

Due Date
October 17, 2015

This Week Baby A...
is inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, which is developing his tiny lungs. He's putting on fat now, which is making him look more baby-like and less alien-like. His sense of hearing is also getting stronger, so he can hear me and daddy talking to him, and is probably somewhat terrified by the tantrums he hears Grayson throw from time to time ;)  He's getting close to two pounds and around 14 inches long.

Symptoms
I'm starting to get tired much easier than I have been over the past few months. I wake up with all of these ideas and goals for the day and I do a couple of things and feel totally wiped out. It's making it difficult to get much accomplished! I'm starting to feel big...belly is in the way when I try to bend or lean forward, so it's making life a bit more difficult. I still feel pretty good though! I can't think of any actual symptoms I'm having on a regular basis, so fingers crossed things stay this great.

Weight Gain
14 pounds, but to be fair, I did eat a huge meal and then a bowl of cereal right before I weighed so maybe less? Doubtful.

Gender
Baby Boy :)

Food Cravings/Aversions
Nothing specific still. But I have been HUNGRY. Really just for whatever I see. Yesterday at brunch I ate eggs benedict, a biscuit and gravy, and a large portion of a huge pancake. So I guess I'm just craving food in general...

Movements
Still moving like a little maniac in there! He's gotten to the point where if Daddy talks to him or taps on my belly he'll move around for him, which is fun. I like the fact that I can almost always get him to move. I always like to reassure myself that he's doing good in there.

Sleep
Pretty good. Pretty much waking up every night between 2-3 for a trip to the bathroom, and I wake up to switch sides a few times a night. But still pretty comfy and sleeping good!

Daddy's Thoughts
He's chatting with him quite a bit these days, and trying to get him to kick. We were just discussing the fact that he will be here like any day now....even though it will technically be around 3 months before his arrival, we know it's going to fly by so fast. One of the perks of having done this before is knowing that while three months sounds far, before we know it we're going to have a sweet little boy to bring home with us!

Fun Moments
The nursery is really starting to come together, which I love. We've got the walls painted, I've hung up the art on the walls, his "hand me downs" from Grayson are all folded and put away. We've still got several things that we need for him, but it's starting to seem more real! I also feel like we're getting closer with the name, although Daddy is still holding out.

Looking Forward To...
Right now the thing I'm looking forward to is vacation! We leave on Sunday and I can't wait for five days on the beach with my boys. This is our last vacation as a family of three, so I'm going to soak up all the one on one time with G that we get next week. Aside from that, I'm just looking forward to the next three months flying by and meeting this little guy! I can't wait to see what he looks like, if he's anything like Grayson as a baby, if he's a good eater, sleeper, snuggler, etc....just finding out who he is. Can't wait to meet him :)

24 Weeks With Baby #2

Alright, I'm almost caught up! I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow, and I'm doing my 24 week post today. If I can just get this weeks update posted before next Saturday I will call that a success...we shall see ;)

Things are chugging along over here, and obviously time is flying since I can't even find the time to post a simple update! I am loving this pregnancy. Loving. It. I had a really good pregnancy with Grayson, or at least it wasn't near as bad as some of the horror stories that I've heard, but this pregnancy has been so great! Of course I had that horrendous 24/7 nausea thing this time around, but that was for like a month, and the rest of the time it has been pretty dang pleasant. Fingers crossed it continues this way until the end. A girl can dream, right?!

This Week Baby A...
Is  just growing and growing...he weighs almost 1 1/2 pounds! His sense of hearing is getting stronger, and his little face is filling out. He's also got eyelashes, eyebrows and hair by this point. We've got a real live baby in there, people!

Symptoms
Ya'll, I just read through my symptoms at 24 weeks with Grayson and can I just say, THANK YOU dear Lord above for making things easier on me this time! With G at this point I had carpal tunnel, my fingers and wrists were swelling all the time, I was starting to have a lot of pain in the bottoms of my feet, and I was having a hard time getting comfortable to sleep at night (all of which continued throughout my entire pregnancy). Right now with baby #2, my symptoms are - hmm, sometimes I get tired if I forget to sit down for six hours or don't eat for half the day. My back gets sore if I'm super active. And indigestion most nights. But dang, I'll take it! (please, please don't let me be jinxing myself, please please!)

Weight Gain
According to the doctor's scale, 12 pounds. Just a hair under where I was last time. I'm fine with it. I'm pretty sure I'm just not going to be the girl that goes through her entire pregnancy gaining 20 pounds, and that's alright. My horrible eating habits would never allow it.

Gender
Baby Boy #2!

Food Cravings/Aversions
Nothing new here! I honestly can't think of anything that I've just HAD to have lately.

Movements
OH, he's quite a mover. We've still got some long stretches of inactivity throughout the day, but when he moves he really moves. My stomach is already doing that weird alien thing where I can see him moving from the outside. He's going nuts right now as I'm typing (could have been that bubble tea with all that caffeine I just had, oops!) I have to say, I love it.

Sleep
Not as great as it has been, but still pretty good! Waking up usually twice a night now to pee, but as far as comfort goes I'm feeling good.

Daddy's Thoughts
Getting more excited every day. I think we both remember how quickly this last little bit flies by, so we're talking about him more and more like he'll be here any day. We are both super excited to see Grayson with him. Thinking about G meeting him for the first time makes me want to cry happy tears already!

Fun Moments
Painting the nursery, yaaaayyy!! Well, Daddy painted the nursery, but I was a great source of support I'm sure ;) I also got everything that isn't baby related out of the room, gave the entire room a good cleaning, and hung up all of the wall decor that I've got so far. It's starting to come together and I love it so far! I'm going with a completely different look than Grayson's room, so it's been fun to do something totally new.

Looking Forward To...
Finishing up the nursery, finalizing a name (gah, come on Daddy), and the baby shower, or "sprinkle", that my sweet friend has offered to throw next month! I wasn't sure about a shower for a second baby, but she said she thinks every baby needs to be celebrated, which I totally agree with, so we are going for it! Side note, this same friend has a little girl six months younger than G and is due with a baby boy about three weeks after I'm due with baby #2, so we are apparently all about being pregnant together :)

22 Weeks With Baby #2

Wooooow, I am really sucking at this whole pregnancy update thing, but I mean really, who's surprised? But here we are with a 22 week update.....when I will be 26 weeks in two days. Shameful. Anyhow, on to the update!

Due Date
October 17, 2015

This Week Baby A...
Is the size of a spaghetti squash...around 11 inches and a full pound. His senses are really developing this week, such as taste buds forming and he's developing a sensation of touch. He may even be able to sense the light from a flashlight if I shine it on my belly, but I've honestly never tested this with either baby.

Symptoms
Let's see...I'm writing this late again as I mentioned, but I honestly haven't been having any of your usual pregnancy symptoms. Some indigestion here and there, which is always super annoying, a few random aches in my back from time to time. But that's about it! (thank you baby Jesus)

Weight Gain
Right at 10 pounds, according to the scales at home. I'm just under where I was last time, but I also started out two pounds heavier this time around.

Gender
Baby Boy :)

Food Cravings/Aversions
Oh ya know, same old thang. Sugar. Pizza. Bacon cheeseburgers. Cereal. Thai Tea. Basically anything super unhealthy, give it to me. NOW. My aversions change from day to day, but sometimes certain things just sound so awful I can't even deal with the idea of whatever it may be.

Movements
I went through the same thing right around 23 weeks with this guy that I did with G around 22 weeks where he was way more quiet in there than normal. I freaked out last time, and freaked out this time again. But after reassuring myself with many Google searches, I realized that this is totally normal for this point in pregnancy (duh, since I dealt with the exact same thing around the exact same time last time)

Sleep
Still pleasantly surprised with how good things are going in this area. Getting up around 2 or 3 every night for a trip to the bathroom, but other than that it's not too bad. Still comfortable, not having trouble sleeping, and not waking up other than when Grayson kicks me in the head ;)

Daddy's Thoughts
Daddy has confessed that he's a little worried that he won't feel the same way about this little guy that he does about G, so his excitement level isn't quite as high as it was with Grayson, probably just because of that fear. But he has started talking about how he can't wait to have another baby around, how it will be fun to see G with the baby, and whatnot. I think the second time around isn't quite as OMG this is awesome for dad since we've done it all before. But I know once baby boy shows up Daddy will be head over heels, just like he is for Grayson.

Fun Moments
This kid is wiiiiild, let me tell you. Since he started moving he's been flipping and flopping in there nonstop, which is what made the stillness around week 23 so nerve-racking. I've said it a million times, feeling a baby move inside of you has to be the number one coolest experience a person could have. Other than that, nothing too exciting went on around this time. Time is just flying by, and I'm well-aware that before we know it he will be here!

Looking Forward To...
Painting the nursery, buying decor for the nursery, and really making his room feel like it belongs to someone. Right now it's kind of A's office/a place to hold stuff that needs to be sold or donated/baby nursery. Planning on working on that over the next several weeks. Also stiiiiilllllll waiting on a name for this guy! Baby Daddy has given himself an August 1st deadline for making his final decision, so we'll see how that goes. Grayson and I have totally already chosen a name, now Daddy just needs to agree :)
