Trick or Treat!

Since Grayson was just a tiny six month old baby last Halloween, we didn't do much in the way of trick or treating. In fact, we did exactly nothing besides dress him in his cute little tiger costume and walk around a little Halloween festival for about 20 minutes one day. So this year was really our first trick or treating experience, and he loved it.

I totally procrastinated and waited until the Monday before Halloween to order a costume. I knew I wanted him to be a pirate, but couldn't find a good costume anywhere. So by Monday I was in a slight panic. Luckily, the husband took over since I was freaking out, found a costume, and had it ordered in about 10 minutes. Sometimes I've discovered it's just best to sit back and let him handle the things that make my head spin.

The costume was in Thursday afternoon, just in time to try it on and make sure it fit for trick or treating the next day. And it was ADORABLE. Grayson wasn't so convinced, but he eventually came around.
Friday we met up with some neighbors and trick or treated around the neighborhood. I LOVE our new neighborhood. It's full of young families, people are always out in their front yards and walking around, chatting with neighbors. There were so many kids and parents out trick or treating, so it was really fun. After an hour or so of walking around we headed home to hand out candy for a bit. It ended up being pretty cold (well, Texas cold), so we eventually just went inside and left the bucket of candy out for kids to take whatever they wanted. Luckily, the bucket was still there with a few stray pieces of candy when we went to get it.

Grayson had a blast, and said "tritatweet" (trick or treat) at every house and "gangu" (thank you) when he got his candy. Daddy let him gnaw on a twizzler for awhile, and I gave him a little piece of chocolate. So, pretty much best day ever for that kid.

Looks like I should probably start brainstorming costume ideas for next year...who knew this was such a stressful thing?

G's First Halloween!

I have been majorly procrastinating on this post. We're already several days into November and I'm just now posting about my bebe's first Halloween?? Bad blogger!

I'm going to be totally honest with you. Every time I've thought about the fact that I need to do it, I've been too lazy to get up and grab my camera to load the photos to my computer. Sad, sad lady. But I finally sucked it up and walked the 15 feet to get my camera, so now we can do this thing.

Grayson's first Halloween was not all that exciting, if we're being real here. He's only six little bitty months old, so no candy for him. Which makes Trick or Treating kinda pointless. Especially since mama likes him to be in bed pretty early. So none of that happened.

Instead, on the Sunday before Halloween, we went to Trick or Treat the Square in downtown Frisco. Several of the businesses were handing out candy, they had a little petting zoo, face painting, carriage rides...it was actually pretty cool. We dressed G up in his adorable little costume and wheeled him around for a bit. Obviously he was too young to really be into any of it, but he always enjoys being out and watching the crowds. We mainly wanted to go so he had a reason to wear his costume, and to see what it's all about to know if it's worth going next year. I think by the time next October rolls around he will definitely be old enough to have some fun there.
On Halloween night, we didn't do much. I thought it would be kinda pointless to take Grayson out since he would have no idea what was going on and we don't have any neighbors that we're close to or anything. So basically I dressed him back up to torture him...his costume was just so cute, and I couldn't let the actual day of Halloween go by without a few photos! So we took some pics, got ready for bed, and hung a sign on the door that said Sleeping Baby, Please Do Not Knock. Happy Halloween!!! Haha...isn't that terrible? I should have at least set out a bucket of candy or something! Ah well....we're the neighborhood grinches I guess.

Even though we didn't do anything too exciting, how freaking adorable did G man look? Oh my gosh, I just adore that costume. Babies in costumes might be the cutest thing in the entire world. I'm super excited for next year when he might be able to enjoy it a little more.

Happy Halloween, Y'all!

I have no idea why I felt like that title needed a y'all, but I did. I'm not one to use y'all in my every day vocabulary, so it's a mystery to me.

Anyway.

So it's Halloween! If you're anything like me, this holiday doesn't mean a whole lot to you. Now that I'm out of college, and Grayson is too young for Trick or Treating or whatever the kids are doing these days, there's not a whole lot of excitement for me when it comes to Halloween. No dressing up, and honestly...I'm not even handing out candy.

Yep, we're the grinches that turn our front porch light off so no one will come by. It's not that I don't want to hand out candy. I'd love nothing more than to see a bunch of adorable costumed children at my doorstep. But our psychotic dog makes it nearly impossible. She literally acts like someone is here to murder us all every single time the doorbell rings. If we were to hand out candy I'm pretty sure she might have a tiny doggie stroke before the night was over.

Before I was a non-fan of Halloween, I actually looooved it. When I was a kid it was my very favorite holiday. I'm an October baby, so every year for a few years I had a Halloween themed birthday party. I loved scary movies, and scaring my friends (weirdo), and my mom would go all out decorating the house  where it was super spooky for me. I also got all dressed up for Trick or Treating every year, and since I love all things sugar, I loved the whole idea of walking around town getting free candy. Somehow, the older you get it really loses it's appeal.

So tonight, all of you crazy kids (or parents of crazy kids) be safe out there. I'm going to curl up on my couch with the lights off, trying to make it appear as if no one is home. Happy Halloween!!!!

**Looking for photos for this post, I discovered Arsen and I have only dressed up twice in the five Halloweens we've been together. Shameful!

Weekends

Weekends around our little household are a bit different these days. Less cocktails with friends, more movies on the couch in our sweatpants. But, a weekend is a weekend, and they are still my very favorite thing around.

Last weekend was actually a busy one for us. We went to Oklahoma for a Halloween party and an OSU game, and got to see friends and family while we were at it. It was more activity than I've participated in recently, and it was quite exhausting to be honest. But fun!

The Halloween party was at the home of my mom's husband's daughter...which technically would be my stepsister I suppose, but when you gain five step-siblings at the age of 27 calling someone your stepsister is just a bit strange. Anyhow, it was a super fun party and I'm glad we got to go this year. I think she said something like 150 people RSVP'd, so it wasn't a small party by any means. I spent most of the time hanging out in the kitchen with all the moms with tiny kids who didn't want to be out in the cold. Since I can't drink to warm myself up hanging out in freezing weather didn't sound all that enjoyable.

It was a costume party, so Arsen and I went last minute and got something to wear the night before we left town. I tried on several things and couldn't find anything I liked....why is everything so freaking tiny? Since I don't really have a belly yet I'm just at that starting to look a little chunky stage, and trust me, that is not cute in a skin tight costume. So I found a nice flowy Greek goddess outfit and Arsen was happy to be Casear since the costume was ridiculous.

My mom and her hubby went all out on their costumes...no surprise. My mom is pretty creative and very much an attention-to-details kind of lady...wish I was more like that. She even sewed extra ribbons and feathers and stuff onto their costumes and made little lacey things to go around her boots. Crazy lady. But it paid off! They looked great.

The next day we went to the OSU game. Tailgating is just one more thing that isn't quite the same when you're growing a tiny human, but it's still fun to get together and see everyone. We actually ended up going to the game for the first half, so we're considering it the baby's first OSU game. Yay! I got a little too tired (and hungry) to stay for the whole thing...the bag of popcorn in the picture below just wasn't cutting it.

This weekend won't be quite so eventful. I'm predicting a lot of lounging-in-sweats action. I'm hoping to be somewhat productive, since I've been such a huge slacker lately. I've already done most of the laundry, swept the floors, and loaded the dishwasher today...which is more than I've done in a week lately. So I think the rest of the night I deserve to eat several pieces of pizza, treat myself to the tiny amount of coke or pepsi I've been allowing myself, and watch all our DVR'd shows. Tomorrow we're planning on buying a few things for the house and meeting up with friends around 7 to watch the OSU game at Buffalo Wild Wings. Which means I get to be the DD for my slightly intoxicated hubby....lucky me!

Hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing weekend! I know I plan on it :)
