I can't even believe I am writing this right now, because I am SO TIRED and SO OVERWHELMED and I really just need to sleep. But yet here we are.
Things have been super quiet around here the past couple of weeks - you can take a look at that first paragraph to see why ;) We've got so much going on right now that I feel like I'm running a marathon from the time I wake up in the morning until the second I crash at night. Thankfully, things should slow down after this weekend. Which leads in nicely to my first thankful thing.
1. It's Almost May!!!
I am so super thankful that it is almost May. There is nothing exciting about May this year, and that is precisely the point. April is my favorite month of the year, because I love the spring weather and everything starts turning green and it's just so nice and sunshiny almost every single day. HOWEVER. This April has been freaking nuts and I am so glad it's almost over. Hallelujah!
2. Awesome Friends
I've had some good friend time this month, and it has been great. I've had some fun girls dinners, I got to catch up with a couple of my favorites at a bachelorette party, and we had so many sweet friends come to Grayson's birthday party last Sunday. I am also thankful for his sweet little friends, because they are stinkin cute and it's so fun to watch them all grow up. We invited 18 kids to his party this year and 16 showed up, so it was mass chaos, but it's seriously so adorable and I'm so happy that he has so many fun friends in his life that he cares about. Good friends rock, you guys.
3. A Lack of Tornadoes
We were supposed to have some crazy wicked weather yesterday, and it turned out to be just some long lasting, very loud thunderstorms with lots of rain and some hail. That, my friends, is nothing. I am from Oklahoma, and thunderstorms are no big thang, and tornadoes are pretty much to be expected this time of the year. But that doesn't make me hate them any less. And man do I hate them. So I'm super thankful that we've made it this far into spring without having to dive into our little "safe spot" in our house.
4. Hilarious Children
Meaning, my hilarious child. Grayson has been so dang funny lately. I spend so much time laughing at that kid. I have so many stories to share on this front that I really just need to do another "Grayson says" post. The thing that made me laugh tonight at bedtime was him thinking Gavin crying was the TV. I thought he was asleep, and all of the sudden he popped up and said "Oh! I hear that TV! That's one of my shows". I said "No it's not, shhh, go to sleep." A minute later he said "Oh, there's that TV again. " I told him to go to sleep again, and he said "I can't. I hear that TV. That TV is "stracken" me." I was confused for a second, then figured out that he meant it was distracting him.
He's also told me I'm an interesting mommy and told the husband "Mommy is SO weird." within the last few days. That vocabulary of his is really expanding.
5. My MOM
I mentioned her for my last thankful post, but seriously, what would I do without her?!? Like I said, this past couple of weeks has been insane, and she is pretty much the only thing keeping me from total meltdown mode. She's helping wrangle my children, helping with laundry, helping clean my house....I don't think I would have made it through without her. Moms are the best!
Alright, I'm going to bed. Have a fabulous thankful Thursday, kids.

Grayson Says...

*I found this post in my drafts from right before I had Gavin. Obviously I just never got around to posting it, but a couple of these were too cute to just never post. This also shows me how much more conversational he's become in just a couple of months!
"Mommy, why all dress up?" - Grayson
"Because I didn't want to wear my sweatpants to your school" - Mommy
"Oh, Cause den somebody say OOOOH, I like dose pants!!!" - Grayson
"The tun is up! Mommy, the tun is up! It's not too gark outside!" - every. single. morning.
"Mommy, why not moving? You want to lay der a wittle bit?" - trying to get me up and out of bed.
After I explained to him that my tummy wouldn't be big anymore once the baby comes.
"And den mommy hold Gayson?" - Grayson
"Well, sure." - Mommy
"Den Mommy hold Gayson A LOT!" - Grayson
Mommy didn't realize how much he's been wanting me to hold him - I still feel like I hold him all the time!

Grayson Says...

"Mommy, what's DAT noise?!?" - he says this all the time, for the quietest little noises. The air conditioner coming on, music, the phone ringing, a car driving by...basically anything he hears.
"Oooh, Gaygan burp!" or "Ooooh, Gaygan toot!" - he definitely feels the need to announce his bodily functions to us.
"Ooh, what's DAT smell?" This is said with a scrunched up nose and lots of sniffing.
"Mmm, Mommy, what is dat favor?" Favor = flavor. He asks me this after almost anything he tastes. He started doing it after we introduced dum dum suckers for potty training, and now he asks it about everything he eats.
"Scuz me Gaygan!!!" - This is said after burping. I love that he thinks he has to say his name. I'm assuming because I've said "Say excuse me Grayson!" many times :)
"No, Gaygan do dat, all by self!!!" - He is nothing if not independent, and he wants to do it allllll by himself.
"Make me happy!" - The first time he said this was when we were strolling through Target. He was eating popcorn and we were just chatting about nothing, whatever we happened to see and toddler talk. He ate a big handful of popcorn and then said "Make me happy!" I said, "The popcorn makes you happy? Good!" and he said "No!" Then he leaned forward and put his hand on my chest and said "Mommy make me happy". And then I almost cried and I bought him a new toy because it was the sweetest thing I'd ever heard in my ENTIRE LIFE.
"Gaygan go poop get a guuuucker!" - We're potty training and he gets one m&m for peeing and a little dum dum sucker for pooping. He gets so excited every time he even thinks about pooping and he says this while practically dancing around.
"Est-eh-day" - I wish you could hear this one, it's my favorite word he says right now. It's his version of "yesterday", and it's freaking adorable. He's always saying "Gaygan watched dat car movie est-eh-day" or "Gaygan go to the beach and go swim est-eh-day!" Basically, anything that has happened in the past happened yesterday.
"Wanna go to Omahoma see Papaw and Addie!" Almost every day when I ask him what he wants to do that day, this is what he says.
"Oooh, dat kiger eyes! Look at dose kiger eyes!" This morning after we woke up we were laying in bed and he started talking about tiger eyes and pointing to these two round gold mirrors we have on our bedroom wall. He would say "kiger eyes go like dis" and then make a serious face and squinch his eyes up. I kept telling him they were mirrors and he refused to believe me.
"No. No. No." This is when he's trying to tell me something and I don't understand. Yesterday he kept telling the husband and I that he wanted to go to the zoo, but it sounded like a cross between shoe and too. We kept saying "You want your shoe?" "You wanna go too?" and he would look so serious and just shake his head and say "No. No." so calmly. He does it all the time now, and it's so funny how long it can go on without him getting frustrated.
I seriously need to start doing this every single night, because this kid cracks me up all day every day. He's talking SO much now, and carrying on conversations like it's nothing. So much of what he says is hilarious and I think I'll never forget, then I sit down to type it up and I can't remember! He's also become MUCH easier to get along with lately, and I think it's because he's so good at expressing himself and telling us exactly what he needs. So far, the "terrible twos" have been the easiest stage of his life! (fingers crossed, knock on wood, whatever else you do to NOT jinx yourself)
