A Little DIY Inspiration

I recently admitted to my slight obsession with Pinterest. While it is a wonderful source of inspiration, what good does it do if I never do anything productive with that inspiration? It's a dilemma I think the majority of people on Pinterest can relate to.

So basically I need to start putting some of the amazing ideas that I find to work. I'm trying to spend as little as possible for the month of June (we were going to do a "No Spend June" thing, but who are we kidding?). So I need to find projects that I can do using mostly things that I already have laying around the house. So here is what I think I will be attempting:

I have some version of this. Black frame, maybe some scrapbook paper? Surely I have a dry erase marker somewhere. I don't know, we'll see what happens.

So cute! And empty wine bottles shouldn't be too difficult to come by...

I know I have a few frames with broken stands...I also have a silver frame that has started to tarnish that could use some spray paint (obviously I don't throw much away). Plus I lose my keys approximately five times a week, so it something I definitely need. This shouldn't be too difficult.

I have a pretty little mirror frame that I spray painted black, then the mirror part got broken (like two years ago). I kept it because I thought surely I would replace the mirror. I didn't. I feel like spraying it with chalkboard paint is a much more realistic goal.

So there you have it! I'm pretty excited to see if I can accomplish a few of these things. Lord knows I love a project, and Arsen shouldn't be annoyed by this one since it requires very little monetary investment. And he won't need to help me. Probably.

Next up: Pinterest recipes! Apparently I'm feeling really ambitious today. Now that I'm typing this out I'm realizing tackling all of this will require quite a bit of effort on my part. The cooking part is what scares me. So I'm gonna calm down and not make any promises. How 'bout, wish me luck? Let's go with that.

My Stellar Golf Game

Yay, I can blog again! No, the laptop cord hasn't come in yet, but the hubby was sweet enough to bring his work laptop home so I could use it. Isn't he just so thoughtful?

So yesterday we attempted something we have never done as a couple. And it's something I really had no desire to try.

We went to the driving range.

The first (and only) time I ever attempted to actually hit a golf ball was on a date years ago. I wore jeans and wedges, because that's obviously the proper attire. Needless to say I didn't take it too seriously, and I don't think I ever made contact with the ball. So I thought I was terrible because of that experience.

But Arsen has been determined lately to learn to golf, and a friend of his actually gave him a set of clubs for free. He (the friend) is incredibly tall, so he recently got a custom made set and offered his old ones to Arsen. He called it a late wedding gift (our wedding was in September, but it was sweet nontheless).

So Arsen and I, his friend Mitch, my good friend Amelia and her manfriend David all met up at a driving range in a nearby town. I didn't have high hopes for myself, and actually planned to spend my time catching up on twitter and reading blogs. Plus, it is HOT in Texas already, so just sitting there was brutal.

David decided that I needed to attempt to at least hit the ball a few times, so he convinced me to give it a shot. And as reluctant as I was...it was SO much fun! Who knew? And I'm not bad! David even called me a natural! Everyone was very encouraging. Not sure if it was pity support, or if I was actually decent. Eh, I'll take it either way.

So in light of these recent events, I've decided to take up the game of golf along with Arsen. So naturally, I need some gear. Here's what I'm thinking:

That should at least get me started. I need clubs too, but I didn't find any cute ones. So I guess I could just let Arsen pick those out. I'm so excited about my new hobby!

I have a feeling Arsen is going to regret getting me involved....

A Little Kink in the Plans

I have really been on a roll with this whole blogging thing lately, and I've been having so much fun. So of course something had to come in and throw a little kink in all my blogging aspirations (temporarily). Our laptop cord randomly went out, and it's so dead it won't even turn on. We ordered a new one on eBay last week, and it showed up yesterday. And didn't work. So Arsen ordered ANOTHER one that he swears will be the right thing. It should be here early next week. Fingers crossed. I have my lovely iPad that I can blog from, but to be honest it's a bit challenging to type long posts on. Also, no uploading camera photos. So needless to say, until the laptop is back up and running, I may be a bit quiet. Super frustrating because I'm juuuuust getting to the point where I think people other than my mom are reading ;) So I'll be back soon with updates on all of the super exciting and fascinating things we've been up to. Which has been literally nothing but going to the movies and cleaning house. Oh, the life of a married couple. Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!
